Rooted in Tradition,
Open to All

Magen David Synagogue — "Shield of David" — has served the Brooklyn Jewish community for generations. What began as a gathering of Sephardic families has grown into a vibrant congregation that welcomes every Jew, regardless of background or observance level.

Located at 2132 McDonald Avenue in Brooklyn, we occupy a cherished space in one of New York's most historically rich Jewish neighborhoods. Our congregation reflects the diverse tapestry of the Brooklyn community — Sephardic and Ashkenazic, longtime members and new arrivals, deeply observant and spiritually exploring.

At Magen David, you are not just attending services — you are joining a family. Our members look out for one another, celebrate together, mourn together, and work together toward a stronger, more compassionate community.

Est.

Our Founding

A small group of Sephardic Jewish families came together in Brooklyn, establishing a minyan that would grow into the congregation known today as Magen David Synagogue.

Growing Congregation

As Brooklyn's Jewish community flourished, so did Magen David. New families joined, educational programs expanded, and the synagogue became a cornerstone of the neighborhood.
